LORIANA CASTELLANO \u2013 Mezzosoprano<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row iron_row_type=”in_container” iron_remove_padding_medium=”” iron_remove_padding_small=”” iron_overlay_pattern=”” iron_parallax=”” iron_bg_video=”” css=”.vc_custom_1414096819252{padding-bottom: 70px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]Loriana Castellano, born in Altamura, Italy, graduated with honours in Vocal Studies from the \u201cTito Schipa\u201d Music Conservatory in Lecce with Amelia Felle. She then continued her studies with Claudio Desderi, Edward Smith and Sara Mingardo. In 2008, she studied at the Belcanto Academy in Bad Wildbad with Raul Gimenez and Alberto Zedda. She has been the recipient of prizes at several international competitions, including: \u201cCitt\u00e0 di Adelfia\u201d in 2005 (1st prize); \u201cTerra di Leuca\u201d in 2006 (1st prize); \u201cRoma Festival\u201d in 2006 (1st prize); and \u201cCampolieto\u201d in 2010. She represented Italy in the Cardiff Singer of the World Competition 2013.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n After winning the 64th \u201cInternational European Competition for Young Lyric Singers\u201d in Spoleto, she studied with Renato Bruson, Norma Fantini and Enza Ferrari and there she was able to make her house debut and role debuts in Il matrimonio segreto, Elisir d\u2019Amore, Madama Butterfly, Pipa and Balafuso, and Reality Opera.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Ms. Castellano made her professional debut in 2005 as Fulvio in Duni\u2019s Catone in Utica, during the Duni Festival in Matera. Other important debuts followed: Dorotea in Donizetti\u2019s Le Convenienze e Inconvenienze teatrali at the Teatro Orfeo in Taranto; Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro in Rome, Second Woman and Second Witch in Dido and Aeneas at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna; Zulma in L\u2019Italiana in Algeri; and Bradamante in Handel\u2019s Alcina with Le Parlement de Musique conducted by Martin Gester at the Vannes Theatre. She was also involved in a series of concerts for Van Westerhout Cultural Activities in New York and then in a concert tour in China. Other early engagements included: Zelinda in the modern premiere of Myslivecek\u2019s Medonte, with L\u2019Arte del Mondo led by Werner Ehrhardt, recorded for DHM; Vivaldi\u2019s Juditha Triumphans at the Soli Deo Gloria Festival \u2013 Braunschweig and at the Festival de Beaune, with Modo Antiquo and Federico Maria Sardelli (Arte TV); Ser Marcantonio in Bad Wildbad, recorded for Naxos; Vivaldi\u2019s Catone in Utica with Modo Antiquo and Federico Maria Sardelli at the Theater an der Wien and at the Opera Rara Festival in Krakow; Stravinsky\u2019s Pulcinella with the Netherlands Radio Chamber Orchestra conducted by Thierry Fischer in Utrecht; Cos\u00ec Fan Tutte in Matera; and Madama Butterfly in Palermo.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Having won the Toti dal Monte Competition 2012, she made her debut as Fidalma in Cimarosa\u2019s Il matrimonio segreto in Treviso, Ferrara, Rovigo, Ravenna and Lucca. Ms Castellano has recently made her debut in La Cenerentola (title role) in Sao Paolo and performances in recent seasons have included La Traviata at the Op\u00e9ra de Monte-Carlo with Marco Armiliato; Vivaldi\u2019s Farnace (1738) in Florence under the baton of Federico Maria Sardelli ( Dynamic DVD); La Cambiale di Matrimonio in Ingolstadt; Mozart\u2019s La Betulia Liberata in Wroclaw; Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Trento and Seul (Art Center); J.M.Kraus\u2019 Begrabnis Kantate, recorded for DHM at the Berliner Philarmoniker; Battistelli\u2019s Il Medico dei Pazzi in Nancy and Venice; Vivaldi\u2019s Gloria and Kyrie RV 578 with the Haydn Sinfonietta Wien in Linz Brucknerhaus; Mozart\u2019s Don Giovanni (Zerlina) with Paolo Arrivabeni at Opera de Monte-Carlo; Isabella in L\u2019Italiana in Algeri at Lucca Opera Festival; Zaida in Il turco in Italia in Piacenza, Ravenna and Modena; The Witch in Purcell\u2019s Dido & Aeneas at Teatro Regio di Torino with Federico Maria Sardelli; Tisbe in La Cenerentola under the baton of Speranza Scappucci; Fidalma in Il Matrimonio Segreto at Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik with Alessandro De Marchi; Lucia in La Gazza Ladra at Petruzzelli with George Petrou, Bradamante in Vivaldi\u2019s Orlando Furioso with Diego Fasolis at Festival della Valle d\u2019Itria and Teatro La Fenice (Dynamic DVD); Adriana Lecouvreur at Op\u00e9ra de Monte-Carlo.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Loriana\u2019s sacred music repertoire includes Rossini\u2019s Petite Messe Solennelle; Pergolesi\u2019s Stabat Mater and Salve Regina; Vivaldi\u2019s Gloria, Magnificat, Kyrie RV 578 and Juditha Triumphans; Handel\u2019s Messiah, Schubert\u2019s Mass No. 5 in A flat major, J.M. Krauss\u2019s Begrabnis Cantate, Porpora\u2019s Salve Regina, Mozart\u2019s La Betulia Liberata, and <\/span>Matth\u00e4us<\/span>–<\/span>Passion.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n She studies with Sara Mingardo, with whom she has recorded duet for the album: \u2018Se con stille frequenti\u2019 (Arcana).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n In 2018\/2019 Loriana sang the role of Almirena in Festival della Valle d\u2019Itria\u2019s production of Rinaldo under the baton of Fabio Luisi (Dynamic DVD), Mercedes in Carmen at the Shaanxi Grand Opera House, premiere of 7 Minuti by Giorgio Battistelli with the Op\u00e9ra National de Lorraine, La Clemenza di Tito at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Catone in Utica at Opera Barga, <\/span>Pietro il Grande at Donizetti Festival in Bergamo.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Recent engagements include: Le Baruffe of Battistelli at Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Manon Lescaut and La Traviata at Op\u00e9ra de Montecarlo.
